Altria Theater - Richmond Customers Reviews
Soloist, flutes, horns, cellos and everybody else!
So much going on in this concert. Too much for me to comment on all of it. The principal flute truly earned her bacon in this concert, great job, 2nd flute was no slouch either! Several passages in the 3rd movement of the concerto required deft timing and confidence to play alongside the soloist and maintain tempo. The cellos worked as their own brand of special ops, executing their mission with fantastic combination of joy and ability. Not to be left out, the French horns stormed the castle with accuracy and thunder, especially in the 5th symphony.
Speaking of which, what was Prokofiev thinking? This piece should be called Concerto for Friggn' Everybody, and leave it at that. The Richmond Symphony time and time again shows itself to be the great organization that we all want it to be. Hats off to everybody.
Cheers,
John
